Hi All, I have received a marriage certificate today and the wife was a Minor Husband Full Age. Does anyone know what the age is likely to be. What was the earliest age someone was allowed to marry in 1839. Many thanks, Sandra |

I'm sure it was 12 years old up until the early part of the 20th century. I'm sure someone else will know for sure. |

Between 1755-1929 the age of consent was 12 for girls and 14 for boys. In 1929 the age was raised to 16 for both sexes. |
