Hi All, I have received a marriage certificate today and the wife was a Minor Husband Full Age. Does anyone know what the age is likely to be. What was the earliest age someone was allowed to marry in 1839. Many thanks, Sandra

I'm sure it was 12 years old up until the early part of the 20th century. I'm sure someone else will know for sure.

Between 1755-1929 the age of consent was 12 for girls and 14 for boys. In 1929 the age was raised to 16 for both sexes.
