How can I find out more about the Matthews family? This is what I know Various people have looked on 1861 census without success. Thomas Matthews of full age marries in Islington in 1865. His bride is Emma Moore, b. Cambridge 1843. The address for them both is 13 Hornsey Road. Thomas' dad according to the certificate is Emmets Matthews, a labourer. 1866 Thomas and Emma's child Thomas Emmets Matthews is born. 1868 T & E's child Henry is born and died 5 weeks later at 6 Ingram Place, Islington 1871 - various people have looked without success at census for me for family in Islington 1874 T&E's son John William born. 1875 Emmets Matthews died at Whichford, Warwickshire. He is described as a farm labourer. His widow is Eliza. 1876 T&E's daughter Annie Eliza [my grandma] born at 90 Georges Rd, Islington [off Holloway Rd] 1877 John William died at 90 Georges Road 1879 Thomas Matthews dies at Victoria Road, Islington, age on certificate is 40. 1881 Emma is on census [hurrah] remarried, with surviving children Thomas Emmets and Annie Eliza. How can I find out more? I've been unable to narrow down Thomas' birth as I don't know where. Can't find Emmets Matthews on any records apart from his death on FreeBMD. Any bright ideas gratefully received.
