DEB, WHEN IT COMES TO THE INTERNET, WE'RE ALL NEXT-DOOR NEIGHBOURS ;) I also contacted someone about one of my less common names, there was no link, but he allowed me to view his tree (and continues to do so) and put me in touch with someone who told me I was "barking up the wrong tree" with one ancestor, and pointed the way to the right person. The majority of members are very keen to share info I think, it's a pity that some have started family trees then appear to have lost interest, I've sent a 2nd email to the person I mention above, still no reply, it's very disappointing.

Hi Sam Thats great. Just worry that I'll trace all these rellies and not know anything personal about them. I suppose being in australia now makes me feel a little futher away from my roots! I hope you continue to have success! Deb

I have had 2 major finds on GC, we both allowed each other to view our trees, and exchanged loads of info. In fact, in both cases I gained gained much more than I gave, no problems on that score. Still got one unresponsive contact, 99% sure the person I'm contacting him about is my grandfathers sister, soooooo frustrating.

It seems that we all have problems with contacts not replying to our emails, but do people have problems getting info from people about shared rellies after contact is made (such as family history stories etc)? I would have put this on the general message board but somehow it seems more like a chat room sort of thing. Deb
