Hi Cath I too have just started the search for my birth father, believed to be Irish. If you are prepared to spend a little money rather than make the trip to Ireland yourself, you could join Norcap (an adoption organisation/charity) and then pay their Irish researcher to look on your behalf. I know it takes away half the fun of doing the search yourself, but if it's not practical for you to do it, then at least they know where to look! Email me if you want any further info. Good luck, Mandy

Hi All I was born in Ireland in 1959 and adopted in Scotland. I have my birth mothers maiden name an idea of where she lives in Ireland (rural area in cork) but no specific age, only that she is in her late sixties. I have a list of births and her full maiden name from 1934 - 1938 which would tie in with her being between the ages of 66 - 70. Can anyone advise if it is possible if I started tracing these dates, how long maybe would this take, if I came over to Ireland myself and how would I do this. I live in England now. Thanks Cath
