Thank you for clearing that up. The reason I got confused is because on some entries on the census the enumerator has written oxfordshire and on others Oxon. Thanks again

i'm trying to transcribe the 1861 census for worcestershire and I have someone born in the county of Oxon then an unreadable town starting with R. Where is Oxon?
