Advice please.... I'd like to invest in some software to help record our family tree but I'm totally confused by what's out there! I guess American-based is not much help but what other things should I bear in mind? What have others found helpful? Jan |

Hi Janice I also favour the free version of Legacy. It can certainly be geared to UK dates etc. Also has free updates on regular basis and once when I had a problem was able to contact technical help and got very quick replies. Sandra |

Hallo, Janice, - I'm glad you asked, cos I have been wondering the same thing. I have Legacy free version, and so far I'm not impressed with its tree charting. It does many things well, like merging gedcom files, but I read that to get good charts you need a companion program. I've got the demo version of Family Historian, which I think has the best and most flexible tree charts I've seen - the demo version won't print though! And it's expensive, about 40 pounds. as opposed to $20 for the full version of Legacy. Has anyone else used it? Is it actually worth it? Michael (in Dundas) |

Hi Janice I have Generations ver 8.0. It is an excellent program, but a touch on the pricey side, it is helpful in the respect that it is (in the main) UK based Kind Regards Paul Timms |
