thanks for that paul that could well have happened to him as i cannot find him though i cant find a death cert for him in scotland either but thanks for the reply it was very good of you, isabel

Not necessarily!! A lot of communities listed those who served, whether they paid the Supreme Sacrifice or not. In Limavady, where I live, there were oak panels made after WW1 listing all those who served from the area. Those who did not return were listed in a different colour. Also, if they enlisted under age, they may have used a false name. So although they may be listed as killed in action in the local area, they are possibly not listed under their correct name on CWGC. i have found a rellie on the moray roll of honour as he was in the royal garrison artillery he joined in elgin,scotland in 1915 served in france. so i take it because he is on the moray roll of honour he died in the war but i cant find him on cwgc any ideas from a fresh pair of eyes, thanks isabel oh his name is james mccutcheon no 137442
