Hi John,You can download your tree from this site into a gedcom and put it into any family history software. You will also be able to get Legacy to make a gedcom which you then will be able to upload onto this site. A Gedcom is a common format which enables you to transfer your information easily between family tree software,or to send via e-mail to a family member etc. Once the Gedcom has been made it will be on your hard drive and any you download will also be there. Depending on how much information you have in your family tree some of the information may not transfer succesfully but the basic information will be no problem. I hope this has answered your questions but if you have any more ask and i will see if i can help. Steve.

I have been setting up my tree on this web site but am a bit annoyed that it cannot print it. After reading the remarks on this message board I think I will try the legacy family tree. But before I do this I have a few questions that maybe somebody can answer. I would like to keep updating my details on this site, as I live in hope that someone with a connection to my tree will contact me. Does this mean that I will have to type in the details here and in legacy family tree? I understand that I can transfer this sites tree to a gedcom file. Then transfer it to another family tree. Does this sound right? And is a gedcom file something held on your hard drive like word and excel files? John
