Many World War 1 Service records are in the National Archives at Kew. Try their online site: www.pro.gov.uk Not all soldiers' records are here as many were burnt beyond repair, but there is a very good chance of finding him and the information is FREE for the first world war. It is only after 1922 you will have to pay £25 for a summary of career and have to prove next of kin. You will ned to visit NA to do research yourself. Janet

Emma, the info you are asking for means writing to the war service records office. Just type that in to your search engine and select the one you want. if you ask for his records and are sucssesful it will cost £25 ,but i have to point out that most of the records for ww1 were destroyed by fire in london during an air raid ,in ww2 [ironic ain,t it?]If all else fails if he got medals, get in touch with the gro in london and they may be able to access info for you this way. Good luck. Denis.

Hello. If it says Army Service Corps it is for WW1 Service. Corps became Royal at the end of the War.

Emma - what year approx.? If it's for service after WW1 which I guess it is - you could try writing to Historical Disclosures, Mailpoint 400, Kentigern House, 65 Brown Street, Glasgow BUT you have to be a relative - it does cost money (not sure how much) and it takes a long time to get any info.
