Hi Debbie, Thank You so much for advising me to look at Barbara Dixon's web site. You are right, it explains EVERYTHING about the birth, marriage & death certificates. I will be ordering Henry's birth certificate, using the reference found on the FreeBMD site. Thank You Again. Hugs, Dawn.

Hi Dawn, Glad to have been able to help. Births is a dodgy one as the entries on the indexes are the quarter in which the birth was registered, rather than when it took place, which can be different. Marriages are entered into the register on the day (when you sign the register) and you only get 5 days to register a death. So both of these events should fall into the same quarter as they happened. If you're not already familiar with it, Barbara Dixon has a wonderful web page all about certificates, have a look. It's on my 'favourites'. I refer to it often. http://home.clara.net/dixons/ Then click on the link for GRO certs. Debbie

Your a Gem Debbie, you have put me at ease and wisened me up abit. I assumed that the certificates where drawn up from when they were born. Yes, I do know his parents names, John Harwood Harman & Maria Edwards. They had Henry baptised on the 22nd of March 1846 in Caston, Norfolk. Thank You so much again Debbie. Hugs, Dawn.

Hi Dawn, Sorry, misunderstood! Yes, it could still be him. You get six weeks to register a birth. If they left it right to the last minute, it would just go into the next quarter. Do you know the names of either of his parents? If you do, and you're still worried, you can request they only send the certificate if the parent(s) name matches. Debbie
