Thank you Mary. Do they take £3 for the wrong certificate, if you make the slightest error as they do on 1837online, as I've discovered ?(put wrong quarter down in error. Certificate was there but took the £4 and ran!) That will teach me a lesson to be more careful in future - especially having waited for 3 weeks. Had to fork out another £7 for the right quarter. My fault! Jackie

Hi Jackie, If the registry office in Leeds will not take phone requests for marriages, then write to them. Enclose a stamped and addressed envelope. If you find one in Leeds in the GRO, then tell them the quarter and the year, the brides name and also her fathers name. If the two do not match then they will return your cheque. Mary

I have a Lily Hill born in Leeds in 1870. She married after 1891 when she was still living at home with her parents William and Margaret. How can I find out which is her marriage? There are loads of marriages for Lily Hills on Yorkshire bmd for Leeds. Leeds register office won't handle certificates over the phone any more so where do I go next? Jackie
