Hi, Hoping some of you Mancunians (or anyone for that matter!) may be able to shed some light on what the Manchester Court Leet records may be. I have reference for an ancester under this heading, but all it gives is " 1829, John Shawcross, son of late James Shawcross, Auctioneer, clerk in the bank 1878 " now Dad James (Auctioneer) died in April 1829, but son John (Bank Cashier) didn't die until 1897, so it can't be referring to John's death ! Wondering what Court Leet Records are and if it is something I should follow up, and if these 'records' are available to the public. Any idea's ? I'm still trying to find when this elusive James was born and wondered if I may gain the said info from these aforementioned 'records' !!! Thanking you in anticipation .. Elaine :-)
