If you have the 1881 census on disc, can you look up via an occupation and first name rather than surname on LDS? Lin

Hi Lin I'm back again! Not sure but will give it a try. What details do you have. Heather

Hi, If you know the area where the person lived it is possible to search by name and occupation - however if the name or occupation is common it's a very big search! Gwynne

Actually I was just asking if it work's but if you're offering Smaaaaashing. I've tried all Peter McGregor's in the London/Middx area - nothing matches. He was a Railway Engine Feeder Lin

These railway men went all over the place! But do you think he died as she married someone else. Heather

Hi Lin, Well, I don't think he was in England in 1881, there were only a few Peters who were of the right age and not a railway worker that I could see. Most were born and living in Scotland so I think that he died or returned to Scotland. Hope the 1861 look-up will give you some ideas. Heather
