Ann....have you tried going into the Control Panel, and from the list that appears, click on ADD HARDWARE and follow the wizard prompts so that the computer recognizes the "new" equipment? Judy

Ann - it wouldn't be anything to do with what you have set as your default printer would it? Gaynor

Hi Judy, I have recently bought a new computer ( a HP pavilion 430) which has Windows XP, my previous one had Windows 98. I have an Epson 760 printer which, for some reason keeps refusing to print saying 'printer not recognised'. Tony has re-installed the printer driver, checked the leads etc and it still doesn't print. Actually it is spasmodic as it will sometimes print a couple of pages. This has happened in both word and outlook express. I have actually now bought a new printer an R200 Epson which works beautifully, but I want to use the old one for black and white, letters etc. (I do a lot of photography so the R200 is really for that). Tony seems to think the problem may be because the old printer works with ink cartridges that don't have a chip which XP expects to see. have you heard of this problem before? or has anyone had the same problem? Cheers Ann
