As a novice to family research & having seemingly exhausted the online resouces for the time being, where would I buy such things as UK Census's 1841 - 1871 for various counties & their Parish Records? Are there any websites I could order these items from? If I went to my local LDS library, would they sell these items? I've asked for help from other members of GC & I would really like to repay them with offers of lookups from myself! Lisa in Australia.

Lisa Try contacting the Family History Societies. There is one for each county. Type in for example Lincolnshire Family History Society and you should get their web page which will give you a list of CD's books which you can order from them. These are often cheaper than some of the CD's you can buy from the Family tree/history mags. Alternatively try ebay Uk you can find some adveterised on there. Beware if you are not careful you can end up paying more than you would if you bought them new. The 1881 census and the British Vital Records Index can be bought from the Later Day saint's. If you contact them they will tell you what you have to do. Hope this helps Jane

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS REPLIED! I am usually very good at working my way around the net, I'm on it often enough! But I just couldn't find the web sites to help me! I've had a look at all your suggestions & will have to do some very serious saving as there is so much I would like to get!! With a couple of orders now placed, thanks again. Best regards, Lisa.

Hi Lisa I would try Archive CD Books, I have just bought the Norfolk 1861 census. They often do special offers. Linda

Hi Lisa, Have a look at www(.)gould(.)com(.)au They are based in South Australia and have an excellent selection of information both on cd and in print. I have obtained some information from them at a cheaper rate than from the UK. Regards, Keith In Sunny Cairns
