Does anyone know if its possible to view an image of an entry for a marriage in 1850, Bedfordshire? Or do I have to wait the eternity for a certificate to come through? I have images for all my Scottish events so far but can't find a site for my English ancestor. Thanks Lynne

I don't know of any sites where you can view a certificate. You just have to send for it, and wait. Jan

If you apply direct (I'd phone if I were you) to the Reg Office that the event happened, you may be able to order it through them and not the GRO. Some local offices do some don't. Some local offices also take applications over the phone and so I imagine you would get the certificate within a couple of days. If you go to GENUKI (I can't remember the address) they have the details for all the Offices in England and Wales. Hope this helps Rachel

Thank you everyone. I think I will just have to send away for the certificate and hope for the best. I thought there would be something like 'Scotland's People' but for England and Wales. On the Scottish site I can view and print the original pages handwritten by the registrar which bypasses most transcription errors. It has made my progress very fast so far but now I will have to wait a couple of weeks to get this certificate. Thanks again Lynne
