Hi Raymond Have e-mailed you to thank you for your offer of help but have 1881 records, I have also amended my messaage as realised I had not put the name Fowler on it which was my maiden name. thanks again Maureen

Hi Maureen, I have the complete set of the 1881 british census and the national index for england scotland wales channel islands isle of man and royal navy. now I had a little trouble to install to my computer so at present I could not look up the piff names for you. give a couple of days and I will get back to you. Hi Helen unfortueatley no luck with birth certificate that is why I am trying to locate parents and definite area of birth as the ones so far have just been a waste of money. But thanks for the thought Maureen

Hi Maureen Have you tried freecen? I found it by going into google and typing freecen then going onto the 1st one listed. If you have any problems then post the details and I'll have a look for you. Regards Helen

Maureen I think it would help if you could find his birth certificate. That will give you an idea of his age in 1851/61. The censuses are all at the FRC in London, and local record offices will have the censuses relevant to them. Some people on this site who have CDs of the censuses may also do a lookup for you if you ask nicely.

I am trying to find my ancestors Alexander Fowler b abt 1847 in Kent, who appear in 1881 census and can find no other record of one in particular, most people seem only to have certain counties in this year and I am not certain where he would be in these years as he was born about 1847, according to 1881 Census in Pembury kent but seems to be no record of him there later, I think I may have found parents in 1841 but as he was not born then need to be able to locate him. Is there any site that has records of all counties in 1851 or 1861, think he may not be with parents by 1871. Or any cd's etc I could by. Thanks
