I have a James Flint who married an Ann Gudgeon on 17/10/1866. She had a child my grt grandmother Louisa Flint.in Sept 1869 James Flint then goes on to marry Sarah Gibbins in 1871in Huntingdon.I have found them on the 1881 census. I cannot however hard I squint find a record for Ann's death so don't know if she had anymore children after Louisa before her death. Alternatively maybe she didn't die.... I have tried Freebmd and 1837/igi with no luck . What s my options now. Ann was 18 when she married and I've looked under Flint ,Gudgeon and Gudgin but no luck yet!

Hi Kim Nice weather in Cardiff today innit? Did you see my latest posting on the Thank you GRO thread? It seems my ancestor maintained two wives in two places for about 20 yrs until his death. So maybe (as you suggested) she didn't die. Was her daughter married by the time of the 1881 census? Where was the daughter in the 1871? Am I asking too many questions? xxx Ann xxx

Well that is the weird thing as unless I've got the wrong James flint (there are many)they are all living in Ealing with Ann's Daughter Louisa aged 11.in 1881. No sign of other children. Yet someone looked up the 1891 for me and by then they have a brood of children , beginning to think have got the right one on the census and marriage cert but the wrong one for the second marriage. Yes the weather is brill, don't know why I'm indoors except rest of family think i'm doing nvq homework! being a bigamist must have taken some planning , what did he do on the second honeymoon, say he was on a cookery course! Confused in Cardiff. Kim

Shall I look on 1891 again in case there's any others or are you sure they ae the right ones? Let me get this right, Ann has disappeared by 1881 census and has been replaced by Sarah, who presumably is a different age and was born in a different place (only asking because in 1871 census my ancestor transmogrified from Harriet to Hannah on the enmmerator's book and in all the other ones she is Harriet). Don't they drive you MAD! My youngest has been at the skate park all day with only a cursory application of sunblock. Huh! What's the nvq in? Genealogy? har har? xx Ann xx

Sarah is born 1852 according to 1881 census whearas Ann was born in 1848 and was 18 when she married in 1866. There is another James who married a Sarah nash but that was in Lambeth IN 1877 . They are in Ealing 1881 and in 1891 St james Clerkenwell. Louisa is then back to where she was born in Hemel Hempstead. (Still wondering how she met my grt grandfather in sussex by 1897! )Sarah and James are 39 and 46 in 1891 ,with children john 8 Alice 5 and William 3 . not that old but both seem to have disappeared by 1901. have not found Ann Gudgeon or Ann Flint anywhere.Last trace is on her daughter's birth certificate in 1869 KIM nvq is in childcare!
