Is it possible that you can find out her Mothers name and maiden name. If she had brothers that you know of they may have been given the maiden name as a middle name. Try looking for Wills that may mention your family. Also look on the National Burial index to see if the first isobel died and so did her father between the dates you mentioned and the mother remarried another dodd and had another daughter who she named Isobel again.

Have you viewed the actual parish register? It might state Isabel's father's name.

I have hit upon a problem. I am researching Isabel Dodd, who married Forster Moore in Stamfordham, Newcastle, Northumberland in 1783. I am trying to research her family but have hit a problem. I have found two Isabel Dodd she could be. One was born in 1756, one in 1760 both in Stamfordham Newcastle. the 1756 one's dad is Edward, the 1760 ones dad is James. I cant decide which one is the right Isabel. The only slight clue is 1760 Isabel had a sister called ann, and I know my Isabel had a daughter called Ann - hardly conclusive. I reckon its likely the two families are related somehow. How can I decide which is the right Isabel that married Forster Moore?
