Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 22 Apr 2004 20:06

Hi Louise! Providing you have the date of death, then the cemetary records would give you the grave number - which the staff can direct you to. I have a book which lists all the cems in Greater London - but there is no Finchley Cemetary. What makes you think they are buried there - is it something you have been told, or do you have 'proof'? Let me know which cemetary you need contact details for and I will gladly provide them. Some cems insist on searching for you, some refuse to search for you - they make you do it yourself! Let me know! Maz. XX

Hi Louise Which cemetery do you mean? There are 3 in Finchley, and if it is Islington Cemetery that you want, I know there is an office there, and I will stand corrected on this, but it is open office hours, Mon-Fri, and you can look the people concerned up, and then you don't have to trapse around looking through all the graves. I didn't know where my ancestors were buried, my mum just said it was a big cemetery in Finchley!! So I e-mailed the 3, and got replies back from all. East Finchley Cem. said that the list of names that I gave them were not there. St. Pancras said the same (by the way, that is run by Camden Council), and Islington Cem. said that they didn't have time to search for me, and that I would have to go myself!! Consequently, I made the deduction that they must be in that one then. Wouldn't you know, and I've still not managed to get there and look!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this helps Lisa xx
