I've got to the stage with researching my family where I am going to have to go down to London to look at parish records prior to 1837. They came from all areas of London and I would appreciate advice on what would be the best Local Record Offices to start my search. I have tried to find this out on the net but am not making much headway. Can anyone help? Thanks Barbara

Barbara A great deal of the London Parish Records are held by the LOndon Metropolitan Archives (LMA) which are about a five min walk from the Family Records Centre at Myddleton Street, Islington. It may be worthwhile checking their website or calling them to see if they have the records that cover the parishes you are after.

I now that the LMA Library does hold parish records for Greenwich (which was Kent in days gone by), Peckham and Camberwell. They are open Mon/Wed/Fri 0930 - 1645, Tues/Thurs 0930-1930 and two Sat a month 0930 - 1645. Not sure which two Saturdays though.

Hi Just to let you know, If you have a mormons family records centre near you, they can usually order you the parish records on Film, for a small fee. These can be ordered for one month or three. Its worth giving them a try they are very helpful. Linda
