If you already hold a readers card you may not need it, but you should take some identification. They hold Army records, Muster rolls (payroll to us). Found my granddads details, it was lovely as I never knew him. He died in 1914 at the start of WW1. 1901 census for UK, I think they also hold prison records & railways although I have not looked at the last two yet. Irene

Morning Brian If you type in National Archives into your google search, you will be able to find out about them. Take your passport with you, as I believe you need it to register with them. I did when I went a couple of years ago. Also, take a pencil with you. Kind Regards Sarah.

Our local coach company, Lodges, is running a coach trip to Kew next month (starting Chelmsford) and we've booked a couple of places on it. It should include a tour of the "behind the scenes" bits not normally open to the public. Hoping to get an hour or so to look at records as well. Just not sure what Kew holds which is different to the FRC?
