House numbers?

Sometimes you can make an educated guess by trying to work out from a census, which way the enumerator walked and counting the number of houses from eg. a pub or a railway station. Not totally accurate, but the best you can get sometimes. A trade directory might list, say a dressmaker at 22 West Street and again you could count back or forth.

I thought Charlton Mackrell was your ancesters name....LOL! Until I just did a search and found it's a place in Somerset, geography was never my strong point! Ditto the above, as Gwynneth said, you usually get house numbers on a census.

hi again. None of my B/M/D certs and census records for Somerton give a street number they just say West St or St Cleers. I know West St was quite long with many families living there so would there be anyway to find the exact houses my family were living in? I have the same problem for Charlton Mackrell in 1901 and 1928, it just says Ilchester Rd. Lynda Australia
