I have just discovered that a couple of my relatives served with the Manchester Regiment in WWI. I have their regimental numbers, but how do I go about finding out more information? Any advice much appreciated. Kate |

I believe some of the people I am looking for may have served in WWI. Is there any way I can verify this without service numbers? |

Try the CWGC site re deaths. Army records for WW1 were destroyed by fire in WW2 but about 40% survived so it is pot luck if yours have survived. Kew hold these records and I think Procat are still putting medals on there.. Hope this makes sense |

The National Archives are in the process of putting the medal index cards on the web. They are certainly up to the letter H, probably further by now. I only had a vague idea of my grandfather's regiment, but I managed to find his record. It is well worth a look - there is a link through the Resource Centre feature in the column to the left. |
