I'm trying to research my friends family for her. I've found her grandparents marriage in leek staffs but it was a civil marriage. Would there be any records held in a local archives regarding civil marriages or is the only way to get details through the marriage cert? |

Don't think that the Marriage was necessarily a Registry Office Marriage, just because it is listed as a Civil Marriage. It is more likely to be a Marriage in a Chapel as opposed to Church Of England. There is also the possibility that it could have been in a Roman Catholic Church.
