A kind member of GC has offered to send me their gedcom file - would it be better to do this on a disc or is it possible for it to be sent as an attachment - any help would be gratefully received - Janice

Hi Janice, Yes a Gedcom can be sent as an attachment, just the same as you would send a normal file as an attachment. To save the gedcom once you have it you save as you would a normal document. Just remember where you put it Hopes this helps Natalie

Hi Janice, To read a gedcom file you will need a family history program on your PC. For example, Personal Ancestry File (PAF) which can be downloaded free from the Mormon site. I then find it best to download the gedcom to desktop or a floppy. Open your family history program. Click on open file, and when it asks you where to open the file from. Point at where you have loaded the gedcom. The other alternative is to click on import file and then do so from the gedcom. If you want details on how to get the PAF program please e mail me back. Roy
