I've got a marriage cert for 1879. but the name of brides father its left blank, but then when she remarries in 1901 her fathers name is there (although different to her maiden name) I'm assuming she was born out of wedlock. Only problem is I cant find her birth in 1863 or anything to do with her father. Im totally stumped on this one and cant go any further with out these links! If anyone can help I'd be so so grateful! thank you

The name on the 2nd certificate could be a stepfather. I had that on one of my certs. The name was the mother's 2nd husband. Janice

ah, hadnt thought of that one! Thanks. Still leaves the problem of not finding them on census or births certificates! Apart from the usual census sites and 1837online and familysearch.org, are there any other ways of tracing those hard to find rellies???
