I've got a photo of a portrait of an ancestor but need to put a date to it. Does anyone know of a website or person that would be able to help me date his painting (possibly by hair style?) Thank you!!

Your local museum, national portrait gallery or any of the large museums in large towns/cities? Good luck, Viv.

You could try this site: www.rogerco(.)freeserve(.)co(.)uk There are some lovely old photographs and the man who runs the site will date old photographs to within a year or two as he has quite a bit of experience. I don't know if he charges or not. Hope this is of some help.
