Yvette, In the registers at FRC pre-1965 adoption would show adoptive name entry number date of entry into the register volume number year of birth and year of adoption the registers date back 1927. adoptions after 1965 do not show date of entry into the register. Carol.

Quote from How To Trace Your Family Tree Before 1926, adoptions were arranged informally. After that date, a register of adopted children was set up. The indexes are arranged by the adoptive name, and the certificates do not contain information about birth parents. Adoptive people wishing to obtain their original birth certificate should contact the Adoption Section at the FRC to inquire about the procedures. Sue

Has anyone looked up an adoption record at the Family Records Centre, and if so what information do you get from such a search? Yvette
