Lee Go to your nearest Local studies Dept usually found within a Library, they are most helpful and you can use the St Catherine's index for free same as using 1837 online but free. Always carry notebook and pen so you jot down info offerred by family. Don't alway's believe census's that have been transcribed as the spelling can be wrong, The 1881 on Family search.com sent me down the wrong track but it is still useful. Regards Ann,Darlington

One way is to get on to 1837 online, pay for some points and look for males with the surnames Mitchell and Chamberlain, depending which side of the family you wish to start with. Also, ask any living relatives or family friends if they know anything to help get you going. Otherwise, as you come across names you need to pay attention to the years and places of birth and see if a pattern begins to emerge. There are no shortcuts - it's just a matter of slogging through. Good luck!
