Has anyone had this problem on GC. I have seen a name on this who I believe is a link to my family but at the side it says contacted. I cannot remember having contacted anyone about this name, but do not want to be a pest and contact him again. Am I going mad (more than possible) or has anyone else had this problem Pat

Hi, If you have contacted this person about any other name on their tree it will say contacted against ALL names in their tree. Check your contacts list.

I agree with Patricia, Something is not right,I have had the "you have previously contacted this member" note, when sending emails, when i know very well, that I havent......

I was checking my "new names added" list and clicked on the envelope to send an e-mail to one, after writing said e-mail i went back onto new names and the red contacted message was against about 10 of them! I certainly didn't contact all of them via that one e-mail.

As Christine says, the "Contacted" logo comes up against all the persons in the tree of whoever you contact. Saves you contacting the same person about John Smith, Fred Smith, Mary Smith, Diane Smith, etc., etc..

Surely that can be a bit confusing? I mean recalling which was the original name that was contacted?

I think you also get the red contacted thing if you contact anybody on GC. e.g. if you were to email me through the site with regard to me doing a look up then contacted would come up against all the names in my tree. If this is the case then it pays to go into 'your contacts' regularly and delete those contacts who are nothing to do with your your tree. Hope this makes sense! Jeanette

I have checked my contacts and cannot find him there, I must have deleted him and forgotten. The problem is that I am stuck on a rellie (who I have only just discovered that he was my G G G grandfather) and he has the name of this rellie and same location in his tree. It can be very annoying to have someone contact you again but as it is for a different name I wonder if he would mind. The last thing I want to do is annoy or cause irritation to anyone on this site but I would dearly love to know! Pat

Pat I'd go for it. I know what you mean about not wanting to pester people, but it's better than sitting and wondering. You could always start your note by saying 'sorry to bother you again but...' Good Luck Jeanette

Jeanette I am taking your advice. There is one train of thought that says curiosity killed the cat and another that says suspicion brought it back to life. If I don't go for it I probably shall not rest wondering if the brick wall could have been demolished. Thank you Everyone else thank you for the advice and info as always I can rely on you all when I need help. Pat
