How do I know which is the right certificate?

Hi Jenny, As you know who the parents are, you could try ringing the district office and explaining your problem to them, asking them if they could send you correct one. I've generally found district offices very helpful, though not all are able to give the time to us reseachers like they used to do a few years back. Genealogy has become so popular recently that some of the larger offices are swamped with requests, but it's still worth a try to save you some expense. Best wishes, Carole

I don't think you can. Are they really 2 people or perhaps from on freebmd where different people have submitted the same information?.... The only other thing to do would be to look at parish records for a baptism if the family always tended to use a particular church.

I've found two possible birth certificates that are both for the same name in the same year in the right districts. How can I tell which is the right one without buying both and checking the parents names?
