Hello, I have just started researching my family history and have registered with the GenCircles website. I have seen links to the Family Tree Legends software and just wondered if anyone used it and if so, would you recommend it? I am thinking of registering for it if it is any good?! Cheryl |

I'm a great fan of the GenCircles website and decided to buy their Legends software. I was able to buy it online and it was downloaded in minutes... however, when I uploaded my GEDCOM in order to populate it, I found a proportion of my data had been scrambled and some relationships had been mixed up (ie. some fathers ended up married to their children...!) I contacted Legends and they asked for details so that they could work out what had gone wrong. After of few days of this I asked for a refund (which was given immediately with no difficulty) and I have since uninstalled Legends from my PC. In theory, it looked to be a very easy, 'idiot proof' program to use - almost a bit 'Micky Mouse'. It sounded impressive, and I'd like to think it is - but I didn't feel I could fully trust it. The problems could have been caused by a problem with my GEDCOM, and have nothing to do with Legends... but I haven't experienced problems elsewhere. So, I've stuck with Family Historian - which I'm very happy with! |
