Diane, Connect to internet, open AVG, click on update, make sure user confirms update is not checked, click update now. Should transfer data and when finished close and re-open AVG. Should then load. I have up-dates set for 7 days and I remember to do this weekly, or more often if lots of publicity on viruses. Hope this helps, Viv. |

I had the same problem, the file was not found on the update site by the auto update. I found this other site - after downloading the correct version, you must save it in your grisoft/avg60/update folder. Instructions at bottom of page. http://www.grisoft.*com/us/us_updt6.php?lng=fe (remove *) |

Could be just a glitch, keep trying it, mine kept telling me it could not get a connection to the internet and I was already connected. After about six tries it updated perfectly. |

No. I uninstalled and downloaded it again. So I'm alright for a while. When I did what it said and tried to update to newest it wouldn't do it. Will keep trying. Same thing happened a couple of weeks back, then it was ok. Hope it's just a "glitch" as someone else here says they have had the same happen to them. Also my AOL has been playing around again. I installed v.9 and it's been fine until the past couple of days. Been disconnecting and slowing down. My friend had the same problem and was told it was something to do with aol's connection to the suffolk line?? My own answer is they are taking power from the dial up to broadband. Not very technical with the pc but that's what I suspect (very cynical!!) |

I had an e mail from Deidre yesterday who forwarded a reply somebody had about this on another site. Apparently it is something to do with the AVG servers. Don't know exactly what but this site was recommending another virus package called AVAST, has anyone else used this, if I don't get anywhere with the AVG might give it a go. Diane |

There is a file in the grisoft folder URL.ini which tells it where to look. If you right click it you can open it up in notepad . You can save a copy of this to my documents say, then replace it with this. (delete the URL text in notpad, paste in this text and save) [SERVER_NAME] 1=free.grisoft.cz 2=ftp.grisoft(.)com 3=www.grisoft(.)com [SERVER_URL] 1=http://free.gris oft.cz/softw/60/fe/ 2=ftp.grisoft(.)com/pub/softw/60/fe/ 3=http://www.grisoft(.)com/softw/60/fe/ Actual URL=1 Remove the brackets before com When you next go to update it will have the option of three servers to search. This may work for you but there are problems with some types of connection. Don't worry it's only an ini file your computer won't stop working. Bob |
