Vessel named 'Xantho'- Hull 1881

Thanks Bob. Yes he's the only person on the vessel at the time the census was taken. What does (DK) mean? Jackie

Greeting's Jackie.. . . . . I hope you'll find the ship your looking for at this site:- http://www(.)angelfire(.)com/de/BobSanders/81Intro(.)html Remove the brackets...... Census returns for ships in dock through out UK ..... Scrol half way down and you'll find Hull. Hope this helps. MIKE.

Did I misread it Geoff? Thought she was converted in 1871 but sunk in 1887? Have google searched for Xantho but nothing much beyond this one. Jackie

I think the "famous" Xantho sank in 1872.

I have a relative named William Bray who in Hull 1881 census was the watchman on the Xantho. William was born in Brixham. The only Xantho I can find was a huge steamboat which sunk (lots on the web). Does anyone know where I can find records of fishing vessels. Have loked at the Hull list but nothing there. Could it have been registered in Brixham or was this in fact the Xantho that later sunk? Jackie
