im trying to find a death record for my grt grt grandad . his name was michael henry born in ireland around 1833. cant get his birth cert as i dont know where in ireland he was born . i only have him on the 1881 census living in ashton under -lyne . with his wife susan and 5 children. he would have died between 1881- and 1899 when his son edward married as father was down as deceased on the marriage cert , if anyone can help me with this i would be ever so greatful . thanks jackie. |

You should be able to find a death certificate. You need to look for the GRO index reference number and then send for a certificate (cost £7 if ordered on line) Look for the reference either on FreeBMD, 1837online, of you local large library or archive. Good luck Anne |

thanks for that anne , all my research has been in scotland and ireland so i have never really used any english sites before ,so i will have a look at what you suggested , thankyou might get somewhere with this family eventually , regards jackie. |

Hi Jackie, Ashton-u-Lyne is now in Tameside. There is a very good Family History Library that could help you. Try this web page http://members.aol(.)com/gayjoliver/Tamesideaddresses.htm don't forget to remove brackets Happy hunting. Mary |
