I came up against the same thing after years searching for my Robert Tucker, I found he was born Harry James Tucker and used the name Robert sometime before his marriage, his children's birth certificates say Robert and so does his death certificate. I took a punt when ordering the certificate for Harry James and it paid off.

I wish I could find my G Grandfather marriage. I think he married on MARS.

Hi Karen, so glad you have at last found that marriage. You're noit the only one to come from a long line of liars. My GT GT grandparents eventually married 38 years after the birth of their first child despite consistently claiming to be married on birth registrations and census returns. Wouldn't you just love to go back and ask them why? Judith

Hi. I had two marriages that I couldnt mind and they were driving me up the wall especially as without finding one of them I knew I wasnt going to be able to get my tree back any further, but yesterday someone must have been looking down at me from up above, and I found them both! - my ggg Grandparents marriage - 15 years after my gg Grandad was born, (25 years after their first child was born!) on my GG Grandads birth certificate his Mum was showing as being married to the father so I had stopped searching after his year of birth, but they lied!!! Thank goodness I decided to look on Freebmd using a different spelling of the surname and searching all dates, and the other marriage certificate I was looking for he used his middle name! Motto of the story, dont give up! Karen
