Hi Lindsey. I am looking for a marriage after 1901. The person was alive before then though so I had a vague idea where to start looking in relation to where he lived before and and his age. After I think 1911 the mother's maiden name is put on birth records so if you know that it would help when looking for a birth. I am using the St Catherine's indexes at my local library. Most big libraries have a local studies section and they should hold the indexes for all the country. Mine charges 65 pence for half an hour which is cheaper than using 1837 online. Tbere is also the Latter Day Saints family history centres. If you go onto their site there is a link that tells you whether there is a centre in your area. Hope this helps. E-mail me direct if there is anything else you want to know. Mel

Hi Lindsey, you can try 1837 online, all bmd are here up to 2001 but you do have to pay.Only other way that I know is to go to the records office local to your research or London.Sorry I cant be of any more help, perhaps other members can help. Good hunting Jan

Can anyone recommend ways of tracing people after 1901. Obviously up till then there are census records etc. However, I am trying to trace relatives after this date. There are no records on BMD sites that seem to match and obviously without name looking on stuff like 1837 is a problem. For example, Im trying to trace relatives who were born just after 1901 and cant find anything. Any tips appreciated
