Where can I find records of marriage which took place in India between 1944-48. Bridegroom was Royal Engineers

You willl possibly find the marriage as an appendix to the Index, although it may not be in the quarter or year in which it actually took place. Paul

Paul I do not really understand, wheredo I find an Index. I have really so little to go on. I just know that my father married in India when he was serving with the Royal Engineers between 1944-48. I suspect it was 1944-45. Where do these records stay or whom could I contact regarding same?
