HELP how do I turn back the pc???

Can some one tell me how to turn back the PC so I can retreive some thing from the recycle bin, I shouldn't have thrown it out!!!! Ann,Darlington

Hi Ann, Don't know if this will work or not but you could try using the search facility on your pc to see if it is still stored away somewhere. Good luck Marc

have a feeling Sarah is right that once you empty the recycle bin then its gone for good!!

Thanks to you all I have XP and have managed to turn back but there were things in the bin on the icon on the desktop but when i opened it up there was nothing showing on the re-cycle page. Never mind I will just have to type out 3 pages of transcribing again GRrrrrr my fault. Thanks again Ann

system restore will only put uninstalled programes and icons back not deleted documents.

It is quite true that deleting a file from the recycle bin does not wipe it off the disk. What it does, is to tell the computer to forget where it is and to make that space available for re-use. There are programs that can find deleted files (or parts of files) a long time after they were deleted, but it is a specialist job and quite expensive. Of course it's the police who have the most need for such software and many criminals have been convicted on the evidence of files they thought were safely wiped. Bob
