My g.g.g. grandfather Thomas Colclough married Jane Richardson on 11.9.1830. This is all I know of these two and would love to try and get back further but have no leads. They were married in South Stockton, now known as Thornaby-on-Tees. Was there newspapers which advertised weddings back then? If there was I might get more info. Any ideas. Regards, Jackie

Hi Jackie I know that the Northern Echo in Darlington has film in our library but it doesn't start until 1870 but you could give those numbers a ring, if you can't do you want me to. Ann,Darlington Mail me

I had a look on the British Newspaper Library catalogue but can't find any newspaper for Thornaby or Stockton that was around in 1830. They have the D&S from 1847. When I wanted to find out about newspapers for the area I'm researching I phoned the local records office and they were really helpful. It might be worth a try.
