Before you throw money at death certs see if you can find his death in the local paper of where it happened as a trawl through papers will probably bring up this death first giving you more chance to then get the death cert. This will mean a trip to London as the accident happened in London. Find the nearest library to where accident happened and ask what paper it may have been reported in. Janet |

Thank you all - sorry it took me a while to get back. I should have mentioned that he didn't die as a result of the war - he was found drowned in the Grand Union Canal in London! I just can't find out when! Unfortunately his name is rather common so I hve now decided to throw money at death certificates - loads of them! Thanks again. Sylvie |

You will often see them as "absent voters" but no voting during war years of 1939/1945. Janet |

yes! i found my uncle who died in 1945 on the commonwealth war grave site, you can print off a certificate with details such as his home address, name of parents, and his wifes name, also were they were buried or in my uncles case where his memorial is. |

I am still trying (after 2 years) to kill off a rellie and have resorted to the electoral registers for the area. Unfortunately, there were none in 1940-44 but I did find his wife - on her own and at the correct address in 1945. It is likely that he died about that time. What I don't know is if he was in the forces and if so :- Would his name be on the electoral register or not? Can anyone help? Thanks so much if you can. Sylvie |
