Hi Margaret, If you can get to Kew it is an amazing place. I found my mother's entry in the Nursing registers. They also hold maps, military records and loads more. As previously suggested, look on the website to find exactly what you want. If you can register on-line before you visit, to apply for your reader's ticket, it saves time. You have to go on the orientation tour (15-20 minutes), but it is worthwhile. Good luck, Sue

Margaret - nip to your local Library on Monday morning, ours is only a small Village one but they have lots of usefull books -some of which are on specific subjects, published by the PRO. There is also a very usefull book called Tracing your Ancestors in the Public Record Office by Amanda Bevan. If the library don't have it on the shelf they can order it in from another branch. It's packed with info and well worth a read. Sue

Margaret, if you visit this site it will tell you all about the PRO, I have only been there to check my g grandfather police records but I think you'll find Kew holds a large amount of records of various kinds. http://www.pro[.]gov.uk/default.htm remoce brackets. Gen
