Thank you everyone. It's nice to know that at least one of my family managed to stay put for 10 years, the rest of them seem to move around all over the place.

Sylvia, Evering Road is off Upper Clapton Road and the other end is at Stoke Newington High Street. I grew up across the road in Clapton. Evering Road, Clapton is where the Kray Twins murdered Jack "the Hat" McVitie in the 1960s. I think No 41 is the Clapton end and that would be E5. Clapton comes under the London Borough of Hackney and the main library is in Mare Street, Hackney, E8 which probably holds records. The Registry Office is at Town Hall, Mare Street, Hackney, E8 but they will redirect you to the GRO for Certificates. Good luck, Kathy

I have a famliy at this address in the 1881 census. I can't find which parish it's in. Does anyone know please? The Family name was Newton, possible brother to my William born 1831, Newcastle
