Can any one tell me if the name Dora is a shortened version of another name. Thanks in advance.

Hi Melvyn, It could be Doris,Dorothy,Doreen,Dorathea,my mum knew someone called Dora,but her real name was Nora,her grandmother was hard of hearing. I daresay some other good people on here will come up with more. regards trish

Isadora could be another possibility....Dora can also be a name on its own as in the actress Dora Bryan who was christened Dora Broadbent according to the net! Aileen
