GRO moan.....

Ordered 3 certs from the GRO on the 7th on one order and they finally arrived today. OK so they have a backlog, I'm not that bothered about the delay. They all arrived in separate envelopes in the same post - now that's wasteful and it's our money as taxpayers they're wasting. Also, the quality of them was a real step down from the last few I've had to the point where I can't read key information on one of them at all. Bet they're scanning them on a lower resolution to hurry them through. Get more staff GRO !! Just to cap it all, one of them isn't even my relative (but that's my fault for ordering the wrong one !). Grrrrr ! Rick.

Kim, I think we win hands down in the menacing growls department tonight. Maybe we should organise a rally, march on Whitehall or something ? Rick

Hi Kim, Hi Rick, Kim heres a little tip that works, to get folds or creases out of paper, put the creased sheet, between several layers of newspaper, and iron, but dont have the steam button on.Press firmly down for awhile, and hey presto smooth certificate, and not damaged. My Granny taught me that trick. Im waiting on some certs,so I hope mine are readable, let alone folded or creased. regards trish

I had a cert I couldnt quite make something out on, queried it with GRO, they said send it back and they woud do a better one free of charge, I did and got a legible one back reasonably quickly (last year though) Worth a try? pam

Hi Pam, Sent them an email today (very polite, non growling), but still to hear back. I won't let it lie as one of the bad areas is the 1842 address of my GGG grandmother and that could be pretty important in tracing things back further. Thanks for the advice, Rick.
