I think I may have found a birth entry for my grandfather b.1919 but I'm stumped on the entry given under the district? it says - St.Gec.H.Sq. does anyone know where this district is please? thanks Elaine

It's St. George's, Hanover Square. It's London, not sure exactly where though... (so it's St Geo. not St Gec)

Hanover Sq is just to the west of Regent st and south of oxford st. But the registration district was much larger and covered as far as I remember parts of victoria & westminster. Should have put central London SW1 area, I was assuming every one would know Oxford St, its just in the SW corner of oxford circus.

Thanks very much for the info - as I recall I have some relly's there - on my Dad's mothers side - haven't done much work on that line as yet though, but always nice to have the information on hand !
