Does anyone know of a place called Glanmire in Cork? Does it come under rural area? A year after my birth in 1959, my birth mother was admitted to sarsfield court hospital, as it is a psychiatric hospital, I'm not surprised she ended up in there, as being a single mother was so frowned upon. The adoption agency whom I contacted, said she lives in a rural area now, and put at the end of the letter, she was admitted here. (I think this is a clue to where she is) Was it local people who were admitted here, or not, maybe Im barking up the wrong tree. I would like to search records for that area, but as I live in England, I'm not sure where to start. I hope some kind person will have some advice. Thanks Cath

There is a Glanmire in the Cork area. Type it into the search area of your vrowser and you will come up with over 17,000 for Ireland alone. Keep an eye out for "theresa from Cork" on the message boards, she should be able to give you better info on the place. Paul

Glanmire is a district of Cork City itself rather than Cork county, whichis a large county. Janet
