Anybody researching in the Malton, NRY area?

I have a marriage between Benjamin Greenley and Mary Marewood (should be Marwood) in October 1837. The marriage on FreeBMD gives the district for Mary as Malton and the district for Benjamin as Hatton. If you click on Hatton another window appears explaining that 'the district of Hatton has been linked by FreeBMD to Malton'. Where was Hatton and why should it appear like this on FreeBMD? Jeanette

Hatton is a transcription error. On the image it says Matton. This is a typing error. Marewood might be a typing-up error as well, because it comes after Marwood in the alphabetical order. The people who kept the records for your family didn't do very well did they

Hello Jeanette, Try this link; www.maltonhistory.info/index.html There is now a forum on the site as well as Baker's Chronology and some census transcriptions etc. I am still looking for any info on James Yorke born c1830 in Malton (according to 1881) - Blacksmith and Pensioner. I found out his burial date from this site along with some other info. Take care Russell PS Diane, thankyou for the extra info you sent me re the Rose family of Barnsley.
