My brick wall is my great grandmother Jane Wallbank born Penwortham 1835/6 On marriage cert gives fathers name as George Spencer NOT deceased. Being she was born before 1837 no cert of birth. Penwortham parish records destroyed in fire. Think found her 1841 census living with a James and Ann Wallbank and know James had a sister Jane but, she was born 1797 can not find her death or any trace of George in Lancs, Can anyone please tell me where to go next. (please keep it clean) Ha HA. I would be very grateful for any help.

Just because it doesn't SAY deceased doesn't mean he was alive I'm afraid !!!!! Had this myself - you need to keep an open mind. Even if it DOES say deceased - sometimes he's not!!! Maz. XX

i HAVE 3 MARRIAGE CERTS WHERE THE PARENT WAS DECEASED AND IT DOESN'T SAY SO. And two where there is no name even though they lived in the same house as their father but were illegitmate. I think it depended on what the registrar asked or decided to write down and some were more particular than others! KIM

Just an idea but were the Bishop's transcripts destroyed as well. They may even have been deposited somewhere else ie the BT's

John Thank you, do not think they would have been destroyed as I believe they were held elswhere and updated every week/month, but, where do I find them? If it is in Preston Records office I live so far away from there. Please advise me.
